Republic Flag:
The Newfoundland Tricolour is an unofficial flag that has gained popularity in recent years as a symbol of provincial pride.

The origins of the flag are obscure but accounts show it first being used in the 1870s by Roman Catholic groups in St. John’s and surrounding areas. A modern interpretation of the flags symbolism in that the green represented ethnically Irish-Catholics, the pink represents the rose of England and the ethnically English-Protestants, with the white representing the peace between the two groups.
