The Historic Sites Association is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to take on the position of Retail Supervisor at the Heritage Shop, Duckworth Street location.
General Job Description: Supervision and implementation of Historic Sites Association policies and procedures while ensuring shop goals and budgets are met. The Heritage Shop Supervisor is responsible for: overall shop management including but not limited to; excellent customer service, ordering and receiving inventory, shop displays and cleanliness, processing damages, stock loss, shop supplies, as well as staff training and dealing with minor concerns, regular liaison with office, and continued promotion of the shop. Previous retail supervisor experience and an interest in tourism and NL history are assets. The chosen candidate will be expected to work 40 hours a week.
The Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (HSA) is a non-profit and charitable organization lead by a volunteer board of directors, with a mandate to present the province’s history and heritage. Some of the HSA's many projects include: Heritage Fairs for students, Manning Awards and Bartlett Lecture. HSA provides support for the National Historic Sites in this Province through a partnership with Parks Canada. Projects are funded by revenue generated from sales at the Heritage Shops. This retail operation also supports the mandate by presenting the Province’s culture through a wide variety of local art, craft, gifts, and books.

We have three locations in St. John’s that are open year-round (Water Street, Duckworth Street and the St. John’s Airport (inside departures) and six that are open seasonally located in National Historic Sites around the province.

Retail Associates play a supporting role to Heritage Shop Supervisors. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining organized displays, restocking and inventory, and processing sales.
