Photographers: Be Featured in Our 2018 Calendar

Every year the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (HSA) develops a 12 month calendar available for purchase in our Heritage Shops. With the continued support of local photographers we hope to do the same for the 2018 Calendar season. This year we are looking for submissions for all 12 months. Photos should feature NL iconic imagery and, in particular, we are looking for photography of the 8 National Historic Sites:

  • Signal Hill
  • Cape Spear
  • Hawthorne Cottage
  • Castle Hill
  • L'Anse aux meadows
  • Port au Choix
  • Ryan Premises
  • Red Bay

Proceeds from sales at the Heritage Shops support the work of the non-profit HSA and this calendar is an integral part of our fund-raising efforts, as well as a way to help create awareness of our National Historic Sites.

How to Enter:

Photographers may submit up to 20 photographs of any of the above mentioned locations and themes. Images must be 300 dpi for a final print size of approx. 12 x 12 inches. Submit uncompressed TIFF files or high-resolution JPEGs on universal format CD. Please be sure to include contact information – name /address/phone number /email as well as specific location of each image and title of the work if applicable.

Submission is open to all photographers both amateur and professional. All photos entered MUST have been taken by the person making the photo submission. Acceptance is based on the quality of the photograph and the relevance of the image.

Any interested parties please contact Rona Moore or Stephanie Micikyan with the Historic Sites Association. Deadline for submissions is 5pm on October 14th, 2016.

Copyright Policy:

Through submission the photographer allows the use of the image for the purpose of the reproduction of the 2018 HSA Calendar. HSA agrees that the images will not be used for any other purpose or promotional material without the permission of the photographer. All photos will be credited to the photographer.

As a non-profit organization we cannot offer payment for photography rights, but will credit the photo to the photographer and the calendar images will be showcased in 10 of our retail locations across the province. Photographer’s whose images are selected for the calendar will also have the option to retail matted versions of the images in the shops. Arrangements for this will be made with the Retail Manager. Selected photographers will be gifted 24 calendars for family and friends.

Please forward this information on to anyone whom you think might be interested. Thank you so much for your continued support and we look forward every year to the amazing submissions by the photographers in this province.
