Port au Choix Gourmet Festival

Taking place August 18th, 19th & 20th, the Port au Choix Gourmet Festival is a joint project of the Historic Sites Association and Parks Canada which will celebrate the French history of Port au Choix and allow participants to experience authentic Basque cuisine.

2017 Puffin Passport Program

Returning for the 4th summer, the Puffin Passport Program rewards travelers for visiting multiple National Historic Sites and Heritage Shops in Newfoundland and Labrador. Collect six stamps as you visit our eleven participating locations.

11 Heritage Fair students from across Newfoundland and Labrador have been chosen to compete in a National video contest. Watch their amazing videos and vote for our 2017 Young Citizens! The two NL winners will attend Canada's History Youth Forum in Ottawa.

2016 Signal Hill Star Gala

Please join Parks Canada and various community partners for the annual lighting of the Signal Hill Star, this Sunday, December 11th. This year the event supports the Canadian Mental Health Association and aims to "Shine a Light on Mental Health".

2016 Young Citizens Winners

The HSA is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016 Young Citizens video contest. Sophia Sheppard of Clarenville and Evan Natsheh of St. John's will be the two students traveling to Ottawa in November as the NL representatives at Canada’s History National Youth Forum.

Signal Hill First World War Encampment

August 12th to 14th, 2016. Parks Canada and the HSA are presenting three days of special interactive activities at Signal Hill. Explore the living history of the First World War through hands on activities, exciting demonstrations and special performances. 

Heart's Content Cable Conference

Please join us September 9th and 10th as guest speakers explore topics related to the first successful transatlantic cable and the community of Heart's Content. The conference is part of the extended celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the cable landing.
